About This Spot

Kwok’s Bistro offers a quietly inviting Asian dining experience nestled in the heart of downtown Reno. From the moment you step inside, there’s a comforting hum of friendly chatter and attentive care that gently sets the tone. The restaurant’s cozy, unpretentious space strikes a balance between intimate and welcoming, where the pace never feels rushed but always thoughtfully considered.

It’s the kind of spot where the staff remembers your name and guides you through their offerings with warmth and familiarity, making it feel less like a visit to a restaurant and more like a shared meal among friends. Though the space is modest, thoughtful seating arrangements avoid crowding, allowing conversations to flow naturally and creating moments that feel both personal and easy.

The food here carries a quiet confidence, revealing itself through comforting flavors and skillful technique rather than spectacle. Whether sharing hand-wrapped potstickers that strike the perfect balance of savory filling and tender wrapper or savoring dishes like the rich roasted duck tucked into delicate mushu wraps, each bite invites a moment of genuine enjoyment. The menu’s broad range—from carefully spiced chicken wings to house-made fried rice—offers something familiar yet thoughtfully crafted, embodying the approachable heart of the kitchen’s care.

Dining at Kwok’s is not about rushing through a meal but embracing a slower rhythm, indulging deeper in flavors and warmth. It’s easy to see why locals and travelers alike find themselves wanting to return—not just for the food but for the attentive, heartfelt atmosphere that lingers long after the last bite.

Oh my God, I'm so glad I found this gem of a restaurant. I was in town for work and I wanted some good food, and from the suggestion from a local friend I made my way to Kwoks. Now initially the place looked unassuming but when I got inside I was greeted and taken care of by their lovely staff. Now I got in on a Thursday afternoon (5pm) right before you needed a reservation so keep that in mind if you are wanting to go. Now to the food. I ordered the XO green beans and the salted fish fried rice and omg did they not disappoint at all. Great flavors that weren't heavy and perfectly balanced. Hats off to the chef (who actually came out to greet and interact with his customers!). Any time I'm in Reno I will be paying Kwoks a visit for sure. 10/10

They are very welcoming and very friendly going over the menu with us. The food was delish, we got the hot and sour soup, fried calamari, and pot stickers to start all very good. The tofu and veggies and crab fried rice with sweet and spicy shrimp. Only disappointed we couldn't try more, we were too full

What an incredible experience, through and through! We didn't have reservations but they managed to squeeze us in and made us feel so welcome. The food is devine!!! I honestly can't rave enough about it. It was so good that we went back the next day to get our fix before heading out of town. The restaurant is small but they don't put in too many tables to make you feel crowded. They leave a good amount of space for their patrons to enjoy their meals. I HIGHLY recommend eating here. Try to get a reservation if you can. If you can't, order take out. You don't want to miss this place!

Kwok's just may be our favorite Chinese restaurant in the world! The service is great (thanks Winnie, Brian, and Danny), and although small, we love the feel of the place, and food is simply amazing. (And they have a great wine and beer list with things you won't see anywhere else, so definitely give it a look and try something new.) I am not going to go I to all the dishes we had because that would take forever, especially because we loved our July 2025 visit so much that we returned two days later to try some more. (We had visited them a couple times a couple years ago and loved it then too...but don't remember it being THIS good!) However, here are just some of the many excellent dishes that immediately come to mind... Egg rolls Pot stickers Crab ragoon Oysters Mushrooms XO green beans Duck stir fry Crab fried rice Spicy beef Szechuan eggplant Roasted duck I recommend just picking whatever looks good, whatever is on special, and whatever they recommend and you'll have an amazing meal. (We always order a ton, figuring we'll take the extra home but it ends up being so good that we eat it all there.) And rest assured, the food is top quality. It is always fresh and light and no matter how much we eat, we never feel heavy or hungover the next day. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but the place isn't very big so I highly recommend making reservations. We travel to Renoux regularly and now our whole visit revolves around the question, "...when are we going to Kwok's, and can we fit in two visits while we're there for the weekend?"

Kwok's is a total hidden gem! It's this cozy little spot with amazing food and even better service. Winnie and her team are always super friendly and remember your name, which is so nice. The food is top-notch. I'm a big fan of their popstickers – they're the perfect size for sharing. And if you're gluten-free, they've got you covered. I recently tried their house fried rice, and it was so flavorful! The only downside is that it's a small place, so make sure to book a table ahead of time.

I have only been to the restaurant twice, One for the Moon Festival dinner, and last night for my son's 17th birthday. The attentiveness of staff - especially Winnie who helped us last night- was exceptional. She anticipated everything before we expressed it. She was paying particular attention to my daughter w special needs, amd helping me celebrate the fact that Piper LOVED the scallops fried rice! All of the food that was ordered was amazing. I had egg flower soup...which was so light and delicious. Also the eggplant was so flavorful and had a spicy kick at the end. Chicken chow fun was not mushy as in most restaurants, but the chicken was tender and the noodles al dente. I think Kwok's has the best - and biggest! - pot stickers in town. My sons sung the praises of the crispy skin on the Peking duck, and there were NO garlic clams left, but my sons loved the sauce so much they asked for a to go box just for the sauce! Kwok has catered meals at Somersett Golf and Country Club where we are members. I distinctly remember the lamb being divine. Similarly prepared pork chops w the most flavorful and unique peppercorns I have ever sampled amplified the dish along with green onions and red chili peppers. The only critique - if you consider it to be so - is the small size of the restaurant. However, we have been to quaint restaurants in the US and abroad, where the small number of tables ensure the high end customer service, quality of food (high versus a bigger/high volume setup) and attentiveness of staff. I highly recommend Kwok's. And please make a reservation! They book out well in advance. It's worth the extra effort. Tell them "Gary from Somersett" sent you!

What an absolute gem. My gf and I found this place online when looking for a place in Reno that served pecking duck. We enjoyed the duck appetizer, very good. We then shared the general chicken, chicken chow mien, and sezshuan lamb. The service was exceptional. Very nice, extremely small restaurant size, this was part of its appeal though. 100% need a reservation, makes it nice though, everyone else eating there is enjoying a night out as well, keeps the vibe very similar for everyone inside. We will definitely be back soon, what an awesome find for a relaxing dinner date.

Cozy, amazing restaurant with some of the best Asian dishes I've ever eaten. Really impressive quality all around. Prices range from $22-37 dollars for entrees with the bulk floating around $25. We had made reservations a few weeks in advance, and that was good because there would have been no indoor seating otherwise. The interior space is small, but perfectly suited to the service and atmosphere of the restaurant. We ordered 4 dishes: 1) Spicy Pork Tenderloin -- 10/10 -- perfect dish -- the most tender, large slices of pork with chunks of fresh jalapeno 2) Pan Fried Noodles with Pork -- 8/10 -- Pork was tender, but came up short compared to the spicy tenderloin. Still quite delicious. The noodles are very crispy and crunchy which provides a contrast of texture. 3) Sezchuan Lamb -- 9/10 -- amazing, just like the tenderloin, a little less spicy but still has a kick and very tender but not as tender as the tenderloin. Sorry to compare everything to the tenderloin! 4) Ginger noodles with Shrimp -- 6/10 -- the least impressive, and most expensive entree that we ordered -- the shrimp were big and very delicious and there were plenty of them, but it just didn't compare to the other three less expensive entrees. We also had green tea 10/10, half a roast duck with tortilla, sweet buns, and hoisin sauce for $45 which everyone enjoyed, and finally a bottle of Sake for $52 that was chilled and complimented the meal perfectly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to pay a fair price for amazing food.
